Enrichment- Walkie Talkies & other Emergency communication
Hello all!
I just have a couple of things to address from the Safety & Security group since this is something that's new this year.
I will be bringing walkie talkies with me each Thursday and I will do my best to get there by 11:30ish (Lord willing and the creek don't rise- or Nate be crazy). Outside of the committee, the following people will need to make sure they have a walkie before 1st hour and then pass these off to whoever is after you (or bring to the front desk when done).
1. Front desk
2. Nursery
3. Hall Monitors- we have 2 some hours- each monitor gets a walkie
4. Rooms 150-151 - we have 1 walkie for this room and/or any others that are cut off in that area
If you are planning to take your class outside, the front desk will have an outside bag for you to take with you that will have a walkie and first aid equipment. Please be sure to turn on the walkie so you can hear if there's an emergency.
While walkie talkies are super fun (I'm super excited!), let's be mindful of chatter though! Some of us with walkie talkies are teaching classes and just need to know if there's a need for us to step aside. We will designate a channel for all walkie talkies to be on for emergency communication. If you need to hold a longer conversation with someone else, please ask that person to move to a different channel and then return to our designated channel after. (i.e. a hall monitor is trying to help a student find where they're supposed to be or their parent, etc.) We have 16 channels so there's no reason we can't have enough to hold necessary conversations as needed!
ALSO- Devon is our committee's Communications director. She will be sending out a group text to the teachers (subs, etc.) each Thursday before the start of enrichment. Please DO NOT reply, chat, like, or emoji in that group text. It is basically just to get the group text started and at the top of your message feed so that if there's an emergency, we can easily get out messages and/or directions to the teachers. It will basically be a test of our national broadcast system. We don't want to burden each other with insane group texts. If however, you are a teacher that isn't receiving the text please let us know!
Thanks everyone!

I never received a text either.
