High School Finance Class this Semester
I just posted in our group for the class, but I was having trouble in the website so it took me a few tries to get the post up. If anyone's unable to see it, I'm sorry! I'm going to copy and paste it here just in case: 10/20/22 Class Update
Hello Parents!
We talked about resume’s in class. We went over the basic layout/outline that a resume should follow. We talked about different templates that are available and what they should look for in selecting the layout- easy to read, highlights their strengths, etc. We also talked about how they should consider how the resume is being presented. If you’re emailing it, it should look just as nice printed in black and white as it does in color, etc. We also talked about how your resume should be geared to the job your wanting to obtain (it’s ok to have multiple resume’s). We talked about how the purpose of a resume is to get your foot in the door so you should only highlight your strengths. You can discuss anything else in an interview or when answering questions for a background check.
The students received worksheets to help them with creating the different parts of a resume and a cover letter. They received a blank resume outline and broke up into groups to practice creating a resume for a specific job. The jobs they had the options to pick from are:
Accounting Internship
Computer Programing Internship
Electrician Apprentice
Zookeeper Internship
Medical Internship at a Dr. Office
I will be posting for an accounting internship position soon, so I figured I’d throw that in there in case any of our students are interested in something like that!
This next class, we’ll be talking about what happens after the resume- interviewing, networking, and landing a job. I thought we’d do some interviewing practice in class too.

No, nothing to bring except maybe note taking supplies if they want to take notes.
