UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR FAMILIES: WWII Encampment
Greetings Educators,
Spring is here and it's time to think about getting outside the classroom. Ozaukee County Historical Society is excited for the return of our WWII Living History Encampment May 15 & 16th to kick off our 2026 season.
Our school/community preview day will be held on Friday, May 15th from 9am to 3pm at Ozaukee County Pioneer Village. This is a hands-on learning opportunity for students and adults of all ages. Our historians bring to life what the average soldier experienced during WWII. Smell the canvas and campfires, see the uniforms, sleeping quarters, artifacts, get up close to vehicles, run the obstacle course with our very own Drill Sergeant. Our scavenger hunt encourages students to ask questions and explore the camps. It's an interactive experience they won't forget.
Our WWII day will also include special displays that include USO Homefront, a collection of WWII newsprints and magazines, a display on the Red Hat society, a Bomber Crew/Atomic exhibit, plus much more! In past years, we've had over 9 countries represented, and have had over 2,000 students participate in our program. We will also have vendors on site for souvenirs.
Bring your lunches - we have plenty of picnic space outside and tables set up in village hall. The kitchen will have beverages and snacks for sale as well. We have ample parking for vehicles and buses.
Save on postage! We now offer the option to register online. Click on our Google Link: https://forms.gle/QwpZc8ZcVvJ7aRkR8
If you have any questions about this opportunity, please let me know. We look forward to seeing everyone on May 15th!
