PLEASE READ ALL BEFORE RESPONDING: Exciting news!! I have been working with BizTown, Milwaukee. They provide curriculum and real life simulation lab that’s absolutely amazing!! This learning experience allows students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.

Kids will learn about getting a job, banking, savings, budgeting, transactions, different forms of payments and utilizing their funds to get housing, groceries, insurance, vehicles… etc.. They will be the producers and consumers in a mock town. Please check out website for pictures of lab and more info

https://sites.google.com/view/jaofwisconsincapstoneprograms

Participants in this must be willing to complete the 12 lesson curriculum ahead with you and attend one zoom meeting with the instructors. They also will need parent helpers to volunteer day of.

JA BIZ TOWN is for ages 3rd grade ( who are strong readers, as was specially arranged for our kiddos because they are so bright) - 6th graders.

The date of the simulation for grades 3-6 is

Friday, January 13th from 10-2:30

Cost is 17$

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT PROGRAMS (older kids more in depth on life skills) AND 2 DIFFERENT DAYS FOR AGE GROUPS! (JA Finance Park for grades 7-12th has started)

This is a commitment with pre work ahead so please only comment if you are willing to do the curriculum and zoom meeting before. Also day if you can only bring nursing children and kids in the age group. If you have to bring other kids outside of age group you’re asked to drop off and have someone else responsible for your child because of space restrictions.

Need a minimum of 80 and a max of 125 students for Biz town (3-6th grade)

After reading this all and if you are in agreement next step is to put your children in the comments with their grade.

I will let you know when it’s full.

I will be collecting your names and creating a Facebook page for the group to follow and get information on curriculum pick up and payment for program. ( Jen DM can arrange a group material pick up and delivery so you only have to make one trip to Milwaukee for the day of the in person lab)

BJ has done Biz Town with his classes, it's AWESOME! I have volunteered, it was so much fun for everyone! Check out the website.

JA BizTown begins with at home learning and culminates with a day-long visit to a fully interactive, simulated town where students operate the economy of a small city. Each student takes on a role such as CEO, CFO, Marketing Director, Sales Manager and others in order to run their businesses, receive paychecks, make bank transactions and shop. They consider saving/spending choices, risk management & insurance strategies, and make personal, career and business-related decisions.

By the end of the JA BizTown simulation, students are able to:

--Connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.

--Build money management skills through practical knowledge of economoic concepts and banking practices.

--Learn soft skills and develop an understanding of basic businses practices and responsibilities.

-- Discuss the roles they play as citizens, workers, and consumers in their community and relate those roles to the free enterprise system.

-- Discuss the importance of citizen rights and responsibilities in a community.

-- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the free enterprise system.

-- Build money management skills through a practical knowledge of economic concepts and banking practices.

JA Learning Experiences support national and state standards in reading, mathematics, social studies, and work and career readiness

over these subjects at various grade levels.
