FabLab Recap & What's Next!

First of all, thanks to those who came out to do 3-D printing today! It was a full afternoon & the kids were great. I'll message everyone when final projects are ready to be picked up. Here's some pics to recap the class & show others what we did. Feel free to add your own pics.

* Also, here's what's tentatively scheduled for January & February. I'll have a fresh post with finalized dates/times & links to register.

Wednesday, January 5th 1pm-4pm - Laser engraving.

- The kids will be working with Vectr on the laser engravers to make keychains. Vector is a free web-based program & the kids should come to class having played with it a little & tried drawing something simple, like a coffee cup. As we saw today, it's super helpful if the kids have seen the program we'll be using & tried it a little. * They are welcome bring a flash drive with a simple design of their own to engrave on their keychain.

- Additionally, there's a free opportunity for those kids who might be interested to become NC3 Certified on the laser engraver January 10th from noon to 4pm. It's a 4 hour session where the youth go through an online textbook together, walk through the steps of using the laser, & then are tested on their knowledge to be certified. They can use the virtual book during the test. This would be for those students who might want something like this on their transcript. Otherwise it's honestly a long & dry session. I don't expect everyone who takes the laser engraving class to be interested in the NC3 Certification, but it's open to those who are.

- Tuesday, February 8th 1pm-4pm - CNC Router. This will use the Vectr web-based program again.
