Directions for the Kickoff White Elephant Gift (WEG)
Greetings to all homeschoolers new and returning! The RAHS Board and I have been busy preparing while asking God for his good hand of guidance on this year. Our discussions have focused on how to strengthen our community, and this year's White Elephant Exchange for Monday's Kickoff meeting is designed as a fun way to get to know each other better. I thought a brief explanation of my thought process would help add clarity.
Often times meetings only feature those in leadership and it can be hard to meet new people. The WEG is designed to help everyone share just a little about themselves with the whole group. Don't get your speech books dusted off just yet- or your defibrillator (if public speaking gives you the willies).
1)Choose a low cost item, new or gently used that you would like to share.
1a) Wrap it up and 1b) please put your name on it.
2) When your gift is chosen your name will be called by the recipient and you will get a chance to share about yourself, your family - ages and grades is great- or the reason the wrapped gift was selected.
3) We will have a few extra gifts for newcomers so they can participate as well.
It's that simple and we hope that it gets you excited, thinking about how you could bless another family with a little something something. Examples of great gifts would be a box of ziploc bags- (Jennifer Janes remains my top 10 favorite gifters for this reason), little writing selection of favorite pens/pencils, unused devotional, pack of paper plates! Hopefully we can bless each other have a few laughs and end the night with one or two new friends. Keep it simple, heartfelt and low cost. Feel free to ask questions below. :)
1 gift per family please!
See you Soon!
