Blackhawk Memorial Park near Woodfield, WI on the Pecatonica River - A bit of a drive, but we have a beautiful state to see.

When we visited there it was OFF season in Feb (read cheaper) and we stayed in Galena, IL at the DeSoto House Hotel. https://desotohouse.com/ Galena itself has many points of interest and is a fun shopping town. https://www.visitgalena.org/
Galena has The Grant House, former residence of Ulysses S. Grant. The tour is inexpensive and very good and running in the off season. I believe much of the house is outfitted with actual articles that the Grants themselves used. https://www.granthome.org/
And the DeSoto hosted many notable historical figures namely President Lincoln. They still have the original staircase that President Lincoln must have used to travel to and from his room.
