Fall Registration Open @ Gateway Technical College
Greetings RAHS families,
Did you know that as a homeschooling family your high school student can earn dual enrollment at Gateway Technical College while completing their Jr. and Sr. year at home? Coursework can be completed at the Racine or Kenosha campus in person or online. If you qualify there are also opportunities for FREE college tuition!
Gateway has added relatively new Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) degree programs that can be started as soon as the beginning of the Jr. year. A student completing their Sophomore year of high school will need to take a placement test at Gateway to waive the Jr. year completion requirement. They didn't need a transcript from me for my student who will be a Jr. in the fall, they just need her to test.
Currently the $30 fees for application is waived for high school students and the testing fee is $15. They don't need to have taken the ACT.
Not ready for a full AA or AS? High school students can also take a variety of courses a-la-carte. Students don't need to know what they want to study- this is an opportunity for them to get exposed to lots of options. Gateway students have access to an academic advisor who will help them see how coursework prepares them for a career. They also have access to tutoring!
Take advantage of the free college and career fairs offered by Gateway. They are designed to be helpful for your student as he or she is trying to decide on a course of career or study post high school. Career fairs geared to local highschoolers are open to homeschool families as well.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions about our experience.
