Do you have a student interested in government? Youth in Governance is a FANTASTIC program that acclimates youth into the County's Board of Supervisors. Should they be selected for this year-long experience, he/she will be assigned a committee and mentor, attend meetings, and work with the YIG group of youth on a project to present to area schools, the Board of Supervisors, as well as potential others. Sound like a lot?! It's really not and it's truly a cool experience. Want to learn more? I've attached information here. Also, my son Jarrett was a YIG member in 2019-2020...ask me! Nominations for the 2023-2024 Youth in Governance Program are now open and continue through Friday, December 16, 2022.
We are looking for your help to recruit the next group of Youth in Governance representatives for Racine County. Please consider nominating youth in your organization for an opportunity where they can be involved in local government, contribute their voice to community issues, increase their confidence, increase their civic knowledge, and develop their leadership skills. Attached are electronic versions (fact sheet, flyers, letter to nominators, and nomination form) of the materials that you may share with individuals within your youth-serving organization who may want to nominate youth for this wonderful experience. I appreciate your help in getting the message out that the Youth In Governance nomination period is now open through Friday, December 16th. We would love to see some youth nominated from your organization! Nominations are being accepted online again this year.
